This article continues my 3 Part series on stress and sleep that I put together for my friends blog: The Mindset Effect.

If you read my previous post describing the stages of sleep you will remember that the simplest way to think about why we need sleep is in terms of healing and repair. It’s almost as though getting a good night’s sleep is akin to regularly taking your car into the mechanic for servicing. While you are sleeping your brain becomes a mechanic, tinkering with processes that are important during your day-to-day functioning and require fine-tuning or repair.
